Few of us can jet off around the world anytime we want, seeking adventures. But we can with Gnomads. You can explore the world vicariously through your new little friend. Gnomads are venturesome little figures you send on fun adventures that YOU dream up and personalize at www.gnomads.net. View the adventure through pictures and web logs posted by your Gnomads "Guardians." So where will YOUR Gnomad go?

Remember, the big fun isn't just where your Gnomads go, it's how they got there and what they're doing with their "Guardians." Gnomads characters are about widening the sense of communities through interaction and communication with friends, family and new experiences. The Gnomad Nation is dependent on sharing! So for now, Gnomads are not equipped with a GPS.

Before you send your Gnomad on its whirlwind tour, you need to register it. Look for the serial number printed on the bottom of your Gnomads character's feet. Then go to www.gnomads.net and enter the serial number in the text box. You'll be asked to enter some basic information, including your e-mail address. (For more on our privacy policy and big BOING's use of information, please visit www.gnomads.net/privacy.html.) You will then be redirected to your new home page, where you'll personalize your Gnomad and its adventure. Let your imagination fly!

Dream up its personality. Go wild! Your Gnomad should be as unique as you. There are sticker
sheets included in the packaging. Use them freely to decorate your Gnomad to your liking. Post your preferences on your bio page for all to see. But don't stop there; sew them little scarves and gloves, use permanent markers to create your own designs, we LOVE to see the ways people personalize their Gnomads. If you have a creative way you've made your Gnomad uniquely yours, post your nickname to the coolest Gnomads forum.

There is no "correct" way to say "Bon Voyage" to your Gnomad. You could send him off on the train, leave him on a doorstep, give him to your uncle, take him on a field trip or pop him in the mail to a friend. We encourage you to send your Gnomad out into the world as you see fit. It's best to walk before you can run, but hey, Gnomads go where your imagination sends them. So if you want to send them on multiple adventures, go for it. THINK up something new, and send it to us! You might find it on the Gnomads Challenges section of our site!

It's your Gnomad; it's YOUR adventure! Your Gnomads character can go with you everywhere you go, or nowhere at all. It could be the guardian of your desktop, or your new travel companion. Be creative! Make up a crazy new challenge or adventure that your Gnomad can do around your neighborhood. Get your Gnomad involved in community affairs in your town! Or start a Gnomad family...collect all six characters and use them as an icebreaker at social gatherings!

Yes, your site can be private. As the Gnomads owner, you have complete control over whether or not to make your Gnomads home page viewable to others. If you want only the people who find your Gnomad or are given the Gnomad by you directly to be able to access your Gnomads home page, please mark the box "private" on your Gnomads bio page.
If you would like anyone who has your Gnomad's name to be able to view your Gnomad's web log, please mark the box "public" on your Gnomads bio page.

There are absolutely NO additional or hidden costs associated with your new friend. It does not cost anything to send your Gnomad on one adventure or 23. It is FREE to upload photos* and web logs. The hosting of your Gnomads home page is FREE for one year from date of registration. After one year of service, there will be a minimal annual charge for hosting services.

Look for the serial number printed on the feet of the Gnomad, enter this number in the text box on the home page of www.gnomads.net. Ta-da! You just became a "Guardian." Post a picture or a story about where you and your new friend are and what you're doing. NEXT, read about the Gnomad's past adventures. Then think of a way to help it on its journey.

There's no place like home. Gnomads are adventurous travelers. But there comes a time when you have to let the ink on the passport dry for awhile and come home. That's why gnomads.net has a way for you to "request" that your little traveler receives a ticket home and returns to you.
It's very simple. You just post your request to have your Gnomads come home on your home page. When the next "Guardian" logs onto the page, he/she will see your request. From there, the two of you make arrangements for the Homecoming. We all know there are party poopers out there, and unfortunately, there may be those that will not honor the return request. Hopefully, they'll see the announcement and you can both watch as the last leg of your Gnomad's adventure unfolds.

GNOMADS OWNER: To have a Gnomads character: the original purchaser/gift recipient/owner
GNOMAD NATION: A community of people composed of one or more Gnomads owners collaborating and contributing to games, contests, communities, forums, and adventure sharing.
GNOMADS LAUNCH: To release, catapult, or send your Gnomad into the world.
